RTV = Room Temperature Vulcanizing vs using an ourtside heat source. Notice it skims over quickly as soon as the air has a change to evaporate some of th solvents. I think the permatex = is 599 ultra gray adn I believe it is just the opposite, it starts curing in the absence of air. Usually used between 2 machined surfaces and only small bead is run around the part, 1/16 or so It is used on the cylinder head cover, the part that has the varying length metric screws about a dozen. I think the orange you used will work OK. if you let it cure before running the engine. Max
